The Loretto was formerly the Loretto Abbey Day School, (not to be confused with Loretto Abbey College, now The Schoolhouse Loft, located just next door). This project was developed by Context and converted in 2007. Developing The Loretto involved a complex restoration and contemporary glass and steel addition to the heritage school house into 46 suites as well as an addition of 13 townhomes located in the former school yard. the Toronto Star's leading architectural critic, Christopher Hume, awarded the project with a rarely given Grade A and said, "... Clad in limestone, unobtrusive and polite, these boxy additions are pretty much what successful urban intensification is all about."
